1st Blog.
The 1st case on Corona Virus was detected in the Philippines. She is a Chinese national who had travelled from Wuhan, which the virus was found, to Cebu, To Dumaguete and now here in Manila. She was founded with no symptoms of the illness until she confined herself with severe coughing, as what I thought.
Now, scrolling in my twitter feed, I saw so many violent reactions and furious from so many people. Stating that the government “maybe” is not serious in this situation, which I was involved too. I tweeted so many things about the government this, the government that until I pointed my fingers to China and its people. In my mind I blamed all that was happening to the world to them because of this pandemic, in short I generalize blaming them all. I did not even think for a second that it was all coincidence or natural phenomenon, I just blamed and point my fingers unto them. While, using my second twitter account, I saw a trending hashtag that said “#PrayForChina”. I look it up and I was shookt. Scrolling and scrolling until I came to realize that its not even their fault, they are also victims of the pandemic. It pierced my heart, to the poing I cannot even stop tearing. I saw tweets that a Chinese national who rode a taxi cab and was left in a wrong destination, he is asking for help because it is his first time in the country but no one even dared to stop and talked to him. It is all because of this virus that we treat every Chinese national infected not knowing they are also victims. They fled their country hoping to secure their health and not be infected.
We really have forgotten how to be humane. We have forgotten how to help others. We have forgotten how to treat other people as humans. It is all because of this pandemic.
I’m writing this Blog because I want to spread an awareness that we should not be too caught up with this virus. We should not let this virus extinguished our innate human ability to care for others. Yes, it’s okay to secure your health and all, but don’t treat other people like animals because we may not know they are also humans who feel hurt and they also have feelings.
Let’s just pray that they will find a cure and this virus will have its end.
